Kia ora Koutou and New Year Greetings to the Community and Friends of Sacred Heart School.
WELCOME
We look forward to warmly welcoming you all back after a relaxing break with lots of sunshine and great family times. Our Sacred Heart family will be together again on our opening day which is Tuesday 3rd February with three days of school and another brief holiday on Friday 6th for Waitangi Day.
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Bronwyn Bradshaw to our teaching team. Our junior children are very fortunate indeed with this appointment.
SPECIAL FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNITY EVENT
Several parents have expressed an interest in holding a monster garage sale to raise funds for the school, and we are now looking forward to the
Monster Garage Sale which will be held on Saturday 14th February beginning at 10:30am. This will also be a great chance to promote our school and come together as a community and have some fun.
There will be a number of free children’s activities so please mark your diaries and spread the word.
We would welcome donations of goods in saleable condition. These can be dropped to the school hall between 10am to 11am on Monday 26th January, Tuesday 27th January (10am to 11am) and also Friday 30th January (10 am to 11am). After this date, please drop any contributions off to the School office once School returns for the term.
We also welcome ideas and offers of help. No job would be too big so please let Kay know if you would be available to help.
The attached flyer gives all of the detail, and a huge thank you must go to our Parents and Friends group for their efforts in organising such a great community event for the valley so early in the new year.
COMMUNICATION
Do check out our new calendar on our school website www.sacredheartdn.school.nz This added improvement to our communication systems will be most welcomed I’m sure and will be updated on a regular basis.
ICT UPGRADE (SNUP)
If you have been around the school in recent days you may have noticed contractors onsite carrying our Schools Network Upgrade Project involving an upgrade of cabling and wireless facilities. This development also includes Ultra Fast Broadband and connection to the NZ Schools Networking for Learning, N4L, which is a safe information and learning internet community specifically designed for schools. We are also in the process of acquiring a number of iPad devices and this year staff will be involved in a structured professional development programme for e-learning.
We look forward to catching up with you all once again on Tuesday 3rd February.
Nga mihi nui
