Enrolment
To enquire or enrol please call the school office on 473 8362, or email to principal@sacredheartdn.school.nz. Our secretary Megan Dougherty will be able to connect you with our Principal, who can answer your questions or organise to meet with you for a look around the school.
We are a State Integrated Primary School with a Special Catholic Character. This means that the programmes of work and opportunities are taught as set by the Ministry of Education, enriched by our school values and in an environment of faith. We welcome enquiries from children with non-Catholic backgrounds under the Open Enrolment category (see below). The school has a maximum roll of 120.
Before School Visits
Pre-entry visits to the school are encouraged and recommended. These can be arranged with the Principal or first year teacher and usually take place 5 to 6 weeks prior to the starting date. For more information you can download our pamphlet here.
Earlybirds
From age four, your children are welcome to join in with our Earlybirds programme. This runs every
other Monday from 1.30pm to 3pm during term time. Activities are led by a teacher, and include arts
and crafts, music and visits with the junior classes.
Please contact us to find out more or check the weekly newsletter for dates.
Our Enrolment Policy
The Integration Agreement allows for a certain number of open enrolment places. (usually 5% of the maximum roll). Once a family has enrolled a child in the open enrolment category, older siblings may also be granted a placement, provided maximum roll is not exceeded, with the consent of the proprietor of the school. (The Proprietor of Sacred Heart School is the Catholic Bishop of Dunedin)
Transition Support
To help your child transition to school as seamlessly as possible, we have written a picture book about our school you can download here to read to your little one. This picture book introduces the teaching staff and school in a child friendly way.
